Red rubrication and an illuminated initial 'A' introduce the tale of how Henry's daughter Maude returns to England and weds Gaufray, the Earl of Angoy (Geoffrey, Earl of Anjou). The written space is c.182 x 112 mm and the script is anglicana formata.

And þese were þe names of ham þat were drenchede þat is to seyn. William. þe kinges sone. Richard his Broþ(er). þe Erl of Chestr(e). Octouell his broþ(er). Geffray Rydell. Walt(er) Emiurcy. Godefray Er- chedekene. The kinges Douȝter. The Countesse of Perches. þe kinges nece þe Countesse of Chestr(e) . and meny oþ(er)e // Whanne King Henry and oþ(er) lordes arryuede were in Engelonde and herde þis tydynges: þey maden sorwe ynough. and al hire merthe and ioye was turned þo in to murnynge and care. How Maude þe Emp(er)ice come aȝene in to Engelond & how she was afterward wedded to Gaufray þe Erl of [...] Angoy Capitulo. vjxx. xvijo.. And whan þat [...] too ȝer were gon þat þe Erl had duelled with þ(e) king þe Erl wente þo fro þe king and bigan to werre vppon him and dede muche harme in þe lande of Normandie. Wherfore king Henry was sore annoyed: Whenne he herde þe tydinge w(t) al þe haste þat he myghte he passede þe see and come in to Normandye. and toke þere a st(ro)ng castel and þere he duellede al þat ȝere // And þo come to him tydynge þat Hen- ry þe Emp(er)o(ur) of Almaigne þat had spousede Maud his douȝt(er) was ded and þat she duellede no leng(er)e in Almaigne and þat she wolde come aȝen in to Normandye to hire fader // And whanne she was comen to him he nome hire þo to hy(~) and come aȝen in to Engelond and made þe englisshe men to done othe and feaute vnto þe Emp(er)esse //And þe ferste man þat made þe oth. was Will(ia)m þe Erchebissho of Kaunt(er) bery. and þat oþ(er). king Dauid of. Scotland. and after him alle þe Barouns and Erles of Engelond // And also after þe noble ma(~) þ(e) erl of Angou(~) a worthy knyght sente to þ(e) king of Engelond þat he wolde g(ra)unte him for to haue his douȝt(er) to spouse.
