Whanne þe Romayns wiste þat þe Emp(er)o(ur) was ded þey for soke þe feld and þe paynymes also and king Arthour aft(er) ham chacede til it was nyght and so meny of ham quelde þat it was wonder to telle and þo turnede king Arthur aȝen þo it was night and þankede almigthy god of his victorye and in þe morne he lete loke and seke al þe felde for his knigh- tes þat he hadde þere lost þat is to seyn Borel erl of Maans Bedewer. and. key. and lygers. Erl of Boloigne. Vrgeti erl of Baat. Aloth. erl of Wynchestr. Cursale. erl of Chestre and after Holdem. Erl of fflaundres. þese were þe grete lordes þat king Arthure loste in þat bataile. amonges oþe(er)e worthy knyghtes and somme he lete entere in Abbeys by þ(e) cuntre an some he lete be borne in to hire owene cuntre. and þe Emperours body he lete take and pulte vppon a bere and sent it to Rome. and sente to say to Romayns þat as for Britaigne and ff(ra)unce whiche þat he helde oþer truage he wolde non paie. and yf þey axeden him ony oþ(er)e tru- ages: right suche truages he wolde ham paie // þe king Arthur lete bere key to keuen his owen castel and þ(er)e he was entered an. Ligers was borne to Boloigne þ(er)e þat he was lord. and Holden was borne to fflaundres. and þere he was entered. and alle þe oþ(er)e he lete entere wiþ muchel honour in Abbeys and in hous of religiou(~) in þe cuntre þere þat þey were dede // And Arthur him self soiournede þat same ȝere in Burgoigne. wiþ his host and þoughte þe same ȝere folwynge passe þe mount of Joye and ha- ue gon to Rome al for to take þe citee and haue pult þe Romayns in subiectioun(~). but þe wikkede tyraunt Mor- dred him lette as after ȝe shal here How Mordrede þe traytour to wham king Arthur toke his lande to kepe and his castell and helde it aȝens him.
