prayde him to ben accorded wiþ king Arthur for to haue pees and þey wolde ȝelde ham to him and þe toun(~) also // ffrolle saugh þat no lengere he myghte holde þe toun(~) aȝens hire wille and truste gretliche oppon his owene strengþe and sente to king Ar thur þat he shulde come to fighte wiþ him body for body & so shulde þey departe ff(ra)unce bituene ham too.// King Arthour anon g(ra)unted it and wolde þat non of his peple vndertoke þ(e) bataile for him // And vppon þe morwe boþe comen wel ar- mede wiþouten Parys þere þat þey shulden fighte and ano(~) þey smyten togidres so fersly and so wel þey foughten in bo- þe sides þat no man couþ(e) deme þe bettre of ham and so it bifel þat ffrolle ȝaf Arthur suche a stroke þat he knelede to þe grounde wold he nold he. and as ffrolle withdrow his suerde he wounded king Arthur in þe forheued þat þe blood fel a doun(~) by his eyn and his face // Arthur anon sterte vp hertily whan he felede him hert as a man þat semede al most wood and he nome Tabourne his goode suerde and drough it vp an hye and ȝaf ffrolle suche a stroke þat þ(er)w(t) he clefte his hed doun to þe shuldres so þat his helme myȝt nought ben his waraunt and so he fel adoun dede þere in þe place and þo of þe citee made gret sorwe for ffrol- le and anon eu(er)ichone ȝelde ham to king Arthur and þe tou(~) also. and bicomen his men and deden to him homage and feaute and he vnderfenge ham and toke of ham goode hostages and king Arthur aft(er) þat wente forth wiþ his host and conquered Angon. and Aungers. Gascoigne. Pehito. Nauerne. Burgoigne. Bery. Loherne. Turyn. and Peihters and alle þe oþ(er)e landes of ff(ra)unce he conquerede holliche: and whanne he hadde alle conquered and taken by homages and feautees he turned aȝen to Parys and þ(er)e he duellede long tyme and ordeignede pees long tyme ouer al þe cuntr(e) and þorugh out al ff(ra)unce // And whanne pees was made ou(er) al þorugh his noble knyghthode þat he hadde and also for his owene worþinesse. and no man were he neu(er) so g(re)te
