Red rubrication and illuminated initials 'S' and 'A' introduce the tale of how Arthur asks Merlin to make a prophecy about the future of England. The prophecy is in the form of an allegory depicting a lamb and a dragon. The annotation 'Merlin's phophecies' appears in the margin in purple ink. The written space is c.182 x 112 mm and the script is anglicana formata.

whanne folc comen to robbe þat lande and werren as muche as þey mighte and so þey deden for þe Scottes wer so grete raueino(ur)s þat þey token al þat þey mighte fynde in þe lande of Lymoigne wiþoute(~) ony sparyng and þer w(t) þey chargede aȝen þe folc in to Scotland for to wende. How King Arthur axede of Merlyn þe auentures of vj. þe laste kinges þat weren to regne in Engelond and // how þe lande shoulde ende .Co. lxxvto Sire quod Merlyn in þe ȝere of Jncarnacioun of Jhu(s) C(ri)st .Ml. CC.xv. shal come a lambe out of Wynchestr þat shal haue a white tonge and trewe lippes and he shal haue writen in his herte holinesse // þis lambe shal make manye goode houses and he shal haue pees þe most of al his lif and he shal make on of þe fairest places of þe world þat in his time shal nouȝt fully ben made an ende and in þe ende of his lif a wolf of a st(ra)unge londe shal don him gret harme þorugh . but at þe ende þe lambe schal ben maist(er) þorugh help of a gret ffox þ(t) shal come out of þe North west and him shal ouercome and þe wolf shal die in wat(er) and aft(er) þat tyme þe lambe shal leue non while þat he ne shal dye // his sede þan shal ben in st(ra)unge lande and þe lande shal be wiþoute a gouernour a litel tyme. And aft(er) his time shal come a dragou(~) melled w(t) m(er)cy and eke w(t) wood nesse þat shal haue a berd as a got þat shal ȝeue in En- gelonde shadewe and shal kepe þe lande fram colde and hete and his o(~) foot shal ben set in wyk and þat oþ(er) in Londou(~) and he shal vnbracen .iij. habitaciouns and he shal opene his mouth toward walys and þe tremblynge of þe hidour of his mouth his heres shullen strecche towarde manye habitaciou(~)s and cuntrees and his breth shal ben full swete in st(ra)unge londe . and in his time shullen ryu(er)es renne wiþ blood and wiþ brayn and he shal make in places of his landes : walles þat shulleth done muchil
