Description:
The tale of how King Aurilambros is poisoned by Coppa, who is working for Passent and King Guyllomer. Red rubrication and an illuminated initial 'W' introduce the tale of how a star appears. The written space is c.182 x 112 mm and the script is anglicana formata.

wolde me avenge oppon þe britouns raþer þan þey in to my lan- de comen and token þe stones wiþ strengthe þat called is Geauntȝ Karvill // þe king Guyllomer lete ordeigne his shipes and wente to þe see wiþ .xv. þousand men and arryuede in Walis and by- gonne to robbe and muche sorwe to done // Hit bifel so þat king Aurilambros lay sike at Wynchestr(e) and might nouȝt helpe him self . So þat he sente in his name Vter his broþ(er) wiþ a gret poer for to helpe Wales and þederward he wente as muche as he mighte // þe king of Irland and Passent had herd telle þat Aurilambros was sike : and to him come a sarasyn þat me cal- lede Coppa . and sayde sire quod he duelle ȝe here all in pees wiþ ȝoure ost . and J bihote ȝow þorugh my queintise þat J shal sle þe king Aurilambros þat lith sike . yf ȝe done q(uo)d Passent .J. shal ȝow richely au(au)nce . // þis treto(ur) Coppa putte oppon him an habite of Religiou(~) and lete shaue him a brode croune and come to þe kinges court and saide þ(t) he was a good fisician and sey- de þat he wolde hele þe king of his maladie // þo saide þe trey- tour Coppa vnto þe king // sire beth of good confort for J shal ȝyue ȝow swich a medicine þat ȝe shulle swete anon rigth and softe slepe and haue good reste . and þe traito(ur) ȝaf him such a poisou(~) þat he slepte anon right and deide in his slepinge . And þe traito(ur) seide þat he wolde gon oute in to þe felde til þe kinge were awaked and so ascaped he a wey for no man had to him suspeciou(~) for enchesou(~) of his habite þat he was in cloþed and also for his brode croune // But whanne þe kinges mayne wiste vat he was dede : þey bicomen wonder sory and faste soughte þe traito(ur) . but þey mighte nought him fynde . for Cop- pa turnede aȝen to þe ost fro whennes þat he com . Whanne Aurilambros was dede a sterre in þe mornynge was seyn wiþ a clere light and att þe bouȝte of þe beme was seye þe heed of [...] an horrible dragoun C(o) . lxviij(o) . Whanne þe kinge [...] Aurilambros was þus ded and enpoysouned at Wyn- chestr(e) . amorn aft(er) þ(t) he was ded oboute þe time of p(ri)me þere was seyn a sterre grete and clere and þe beem of þat sterre
