Description:
An illuminated initial ' W ' introduces the tale of the next four kings to rule Britain. Red rubrication and illuminated initial ' T ' introduces the story of King Donewall (Donebaud) who became the only king of Britain. The written space is c.182 x 112 mm and the script is anglicana formata.

Whanne þese .ij. breþeren were so ded þe nad left byhinde ham noþer sone ne doughter ne non oþer of þe kynrede þat myghte haue þe heritage and for as muche as þe strengest men dryuen and scomfited þe feblest and token alle hire landes :- so þat on eu(er)y cuntrey þey hadde gret werre and st(re)s But amo(~)g alle oþe(r) þinges þere were amonges ham in þe cuntree þat ouer comen alle þo oþ(er) and þorugh hir strengþe and hir myght þey nomen and toke al þe landes and eu(er)ich of ham toke a certain cuntre . and in his cuntre lete calle him king And on of ham me callede Skater and he was king of Skotland . And þat oþer me callede Dawallier . and he was king of Loegers & of al þe lande þat was lotrynus þat was Brutes sones . þe þrid me called Rudak and he was king of Walys . And þe iiije. me called Cloten . and he was king of Cornewaile // But þis Cloten shulde haue had al þe land by resoun . for þere was no man þat wiste non so rightful heir as he was but þey þat were strengest sette litel by ham þat were of lasse estate and þ(er)fore þis Cloten had nomore lond amonges ham þan onliche Cornewaile Of king Doneband þat was Clotennes sone and how he hadde wonne the lande Capitulo xixo.:. This Cloten had a sone þat me called Doneband þat after þe deþ of his fader bicome an hardy man and a faire and a curteys so þat he passede alle þe kinges of Bru taigne of fairnesse and and of Worþynesse And anon he was a knight he wiste wel whanne þat his fad(er) leuede was most rigthful herre of al þe londe and shuld haue had hit by resou(~) : but oþ(er) kinges þat were more strengthe þan he bynome hy(~) his lande // And afterward þis Doneband ordeigned him þo er and ferst conquered al þe lond of Loegers and after he wolde haue conquered al Scotland and Walys . And Skater with his men come an ȝaf him bataile And Rudak come aȝen with his walshe men for to helpe him // But so it bi fel þat Rudak was quelde and Skater also in pleyne ba- taile and so .
