Description:
The story of King Leir (Lear) and how he is driven out of his kingdom by his daughters Gonerille (Corneil) and Rigan and how he turns to his third daughter Cordeill (Cordelia), Queen of France, for help. There is a small hole in the vellum. The written space is c.182 x 112 mm and the script is anglicana formata.

me glosede þo : and now of me þey sette litel pris and soþ tolde me Cordeill . but y wolde nought bileue it ne vnderstonde : and þerfore y lete hir gon fram me as a þing þat y sette litel pris of and now wote j neu(er) what for to don sith my . ij . doughtres haue me þus desceyued þat j so muche louede . And now mote y nedes sechen hire þat is in anoþ(er) londe þat lightly j lete hire gon fro me withoute eny rewarde of ȝiftes and she seide þat she louede me as she oughte hir fad(er) by al man(er) resou(~) : and þo j shuld haue axed of hire no more and þo þat me oþ(er)wise bihighten þorugh hir fals speche now haue me desceyued . // Jn þis man(er) Leir long tyme him bigan to maken his mone and atte laste he shoop him to þe see and passed ouer in to ff(ra)unce and axede and aspyede where þe queene mighte be fou(~)- de and men tolde where þat she was // And whanne he come to þe citee þat she was inne p(ri)ueleche he sente hi(s) squier to þ(e) que- ne to telle hire þat hire fader was comen to hire for grete nede . // And whan þe Squier come to þe quene he tolde hire eu(er)y del of hire sustres fram þe bigynnynge to þe ende // Cordeill the quene anon nome golde & silu(er) gret plente & tok it to þ(e) sq(ui)er in coun- sail þ(t) he shulde gon & bere it vnto hir fad(er) & þ(t) he shulde go in to a c(er)teyn citee and him arrayen baþen and washen and þanne come aȝen to hire and bringe with him an honeste companye of knigh tes fourty att þe leste with hire manye and þanne he shulde sen- de to hire lord þe king and seyn þat he were comen for to spe ke with his doughter and him and to seen // And whanne þe king and þe quene herde þat þei come wiþ muchel hono(ur) and him resceyuede wiþ muchel honour . þe king of ff(ra)unce þo lete sende þorugh al his reame and comaunded þat alle men shulde to him ben entendaunt to Leir þe quene fader in alle maner þing as it were to him self // Whanne Leir had duelled þere a mounthe and more he tolde to þe king and to þe quene his dought(er) how his tueyn eldest doughtres had him serued // Agampe anon lete ordeyne a g(re)te host of ff(ra)unce and sent hit in to . britaigne with leir þe quenes
