And after þis king Leil regned his sone Lud Ludibras þat made þe citee of Kaunt(er)bery and of Wynchestr and he reg nede xiij. ȝere and deide and lith at Wynchestre Of king Bla dud þat was Ludibras his sone regnede and was a good man(~) and [. . . ] a nygromancer Capitulo .xjo. And after þis Lud Ludib(ra)s [ . . ] regnede Bladud his sone a gret nig(ro)mancer and þorugh his crafte o Nig(ro)mauncie he made þe m(er)uaillous hote bathe as he gest telleþ and he regnede xxj ȝere and he lith at newe T(ro)ye. Of king Leir and of þe ansuere of his ȝongest doughter þat [ . . ] g(ra)ciously was maried to þe king of ff(ra)unce . Coxijo. After þis king [ . . . ] Bladud regned Leir his sone and þis Leir makede þe tou(~) of Leycestre and lete calle þe toun after his name and he gouer nede þe lande wel and nobly . // þis king Leir hadde .iij. doughtr(e)s þe ferste highte Gonorill . þe secunde Rigan . and þe þridde Cordeill and þ ȝengest doughter was fairest and best of conditiou(~)s // þe king hir fader bicome an olde man and wol de þat his doughtres were mariede or þat he deide . but ferst he þoughte assaye which of ham loued him most and beste . for she þat loued him best be maried . and he axe de of þe ferst doughter how muche she him louede and she ansuerede and saide bettre þan hire owen lyf . Now certes quoþ þe fader þat is a gret loue // þo axede he of þe secound doughter how moche she him louede : and she saide more & passinge alle þe creatures of þe worlde . may foy quod þe fad(er) y may no more axen. // and þo axed he þe þrid doughter how muche she him loued . certes fader quod she my sustres haue tolde ȝow glosinge wordes but for soþe y shal telle ȝow trewthe for y loue ȝow as muche as y owe to loue my fader and for to bringe ȝow more in certein how loue goþ y shal ȝow telle : for as muche as ȝe beþ worth so muche shal ȝe ben loued // þe king hir fader wende þat she had scorned him and bicome wonder wroth and swor by heuene and
