Wooden ink stand inlaid with mother of pearl containing two glass inkwells, with lids, and two quill pens once owned by Elizabeth Gaskell. The ink stand has two metal plaques both inscribed, MRS GASKELL'S INK STAND. One is attached to ink stand and the other is attached to the lid of the nib well.
